Be careful of what you call entertainment. Be careful of your source of enjoyment. Not everything that is pleasing to your flesh is pleasing to your soul.
The enemy wants to fascinate you so he can assassinate you. It’s like a trap. What are the things that fascinate us? Is it lustful clips from social media? Tempting pictures? Seducing films? Lustful conversations? Demonic and violent online games?
These are the reasons why many people experience so-called “enjoyment” but deep down they feel so much resentment. Be careful of what you entertain… there are entertainments that could drag you to hell. God is not a killjoy; He wants to kill what truly kills our joy.
Here’s the tactic of the devil: He will show you what is fascinating to your eyes.
Before Adam and Eve sinned against God, their eyes were fascinated.
“When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and PLEASING TO THE EYE, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.”-Genesis 3:6
Before King David sinned against God, this is what happened:
“One evening David got up from his bed and walked around on the roof of the palace. From the roof, He saw a woman bathing. The woman was very beautiful,”-2 Samuel 11:2
BE CAREFUL OF WHAT YOU ENTERTAIN! BE CAREFUL OF WHAT FASCINATES YOUR EYES! The Scripture says: The eye is the lamp of the body. And when Jesus speaks of eyes and light, He means all people should keep their eyes on God because the eyes are the windows to the soul. Eyes should not focus on trash—pornography and other carnal and worldly things. Or could it be… what really fascinates us are the riches of this world? Remember when Satan tempted Jesus
Again, the devil took Him to a very high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. “All this I will give you,” he said, “if You will bow down and worship me.”- Matthew 4:8-9
Satan offers the kingdoms of the world and their ‘splendor’ without showing their sin. The enemy will show you the beauty of things but not the destruction behind them. Be careful, my friend. What we call a playground, is really a battleground. It’s time to defeat sin. If you do not kill sin, it will kill you. Here’s the thing on how we will overcome sin: Galatians 5:16 “This I say then, walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.” God wants you to be awakened. Now that you’ve known this, it’s time to be careful. 1 Peter 5:8 reminds us, “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”
